The new 2007 Michigan Travel Ideas magazine is now available from michigan.org and Travel Michigan, the state's tourism promotion office. This year's 120-page, full-color issue is packed with new travel ideas for every season, from shore to shore.
"The spectacular photography and outstanding articles in Michigan Travel Ideas will inspire travelers to explore every corner of our great state," said George Zimmermann, Vice President of Travel Michigan. "There is still time to take advantage of the winter travel suggestions detailed in Best in Snow, one of the ten articles included in this year's publication."
2007 Issue Highlights
As Michigan and the nation prepare to celebrate Black History month in February, this year's issue offers up Freedom Trail, a story about Michigan's role in the Underground Railroad in Niles, Battle Creek and Detroit. Visitors can gear up for a host of spring and summer experiences by reading Summer Country, Beach Time and Family Getaways. One of Michigan's most popular wilderness destinations, the Au Sable River, is the focus of Trip of a Lifetime, exploring the wonders of the 90-mile long river favored for fly fishing and canoeing. Thumbs up points to the leisurely pace of Michigan's thumb area with its quaint ports on Lake Huron's shoreline. Readers can follow the color trail in Reflections on Autumn that focuses on southwestern Michigan's River Country. Urban adventures are highlighted in City Weekends, and Roads to the Past provides a look at three historic highways, US-12, US-23 and US-2, with suggestions for tours, shopping and dining along the way.
Currents, a colorful ten-page feature, is jammed with what's new to see and do plus top ten lists for family fun, sunrise and sunsets, foods, water adventures and casino action. The magazine also includes a guide to Michigan state parks and campgrounds, a calendar of events and a listing of convention, visitor bureaus and regional tourism associations. Michigan Travel Ideas 2007 was produced in cooperation with Midwest Living.
